Recap: Annual Doctoral Conference 2025 — Emerging Approaches Across Disciplines
On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences hosted the Annual Doctoral Conference 2025, under the theme “Emerging Approaches Across Disciplines.” The event gathered doctoral researchers and faculty to exchange ideas, present their latest work, and engage in rich interdisciplinary dialogue.
The conference unfolded in three dynamic panels:
- Panel One explored themes of patriarchy, identity, and gender in Moroccan and diaspora literature, with presenters examining how female characters and voices shape postcolonial narratives.
- Panel Two brought discussions on trauma theory, transnationalism, and cultural storytelling, addressing gender stereotypes, Mediterranean literary encounters, and the political charge of literature.
- Panel Three focused on translation challenges, Jewish Moroccan memory, and colonial representations, highlighting the role of literature as both archive and site of resistance.
Across the sessions, participants debated the intersections of literature, history, and philosophy, while foregrounding new approaches to trauma, identity, and cultural narratives. The event succeeded in providing an inclusive and vibrant academic space where young scholars could present their research, receive feedback, and foster collaborative intellectual exchange.
The conference reaffirmed the role of doctoral research as a driving force in advancing innovative perspectives across disciplines, contributing to broader conversations in Moroccan, Maghrebi, and global literary studies.
