Cultural & Academic Exchange Session Recap: Fostering Dialogue Across Disciplines

On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, the Department of English Language & Literature, the Department of History & Civilization, and the Faculty of Humanities at UAE joined forces for a dynamic Cultural & Academic Exchange Session. The event welcomed graduate students from Oxford College of Emory University (USA) and faculty from both institutions for a day of inquiry, discussion, and cross-cultural insight.

Event highlights

  • Welcome and opening: A warm introduction by the organizing committee set the stage for an inclusive exchange of ideas across disciplines and cultures.
  • Student presentations and open discussion: Graduate students shared research snapshots and engaged in constructive dialogue, receiving feedback from peers and mentors.
  • Guided tour: Attendees explored the historic City of Tetouan, enriching the conversation with local context and cultural immersion.
  • Networking and collaboration: Participants connected with coordinators and professors to explore future joint projects, scholarships, and exchange opportunities.

Brahim Barhoun is a Professor of English Studies in the Department of English Language and Literature at Abdelmalek Essaadi University in Tétouan, Morocco. He holds a PhD in the Literature of English-speaking Countries from the Complutense University of Madrid, and his research interests include postcolonial literature, narrative identity, migration, magical realism, and gender representations, with a focus on African and Arab literary contexts. He is currently the Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Studies in English Language, Culture & Literature MA Program and Vice Director of the Linguistic, Literary, Cultural & Interdisciplinary Studies Research Lab. In addition, Brahim Barhoun serves as Editor-in-Chief and Publications Director of the Confluence Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles published in national and international journals.
