A Literary Encounter with Author Mohamed El Ftouh
On April 17th, we had the pleasure of hosting a truly special literary event with the writer Mohamed El Ftouh. The event took place at the Iklyle Cultural Center in Tetouan, in collaboration with Confluence Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies and the Laboratory of Linguistic, Literary, Cultural, and Interdisciplinary Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Abdelmalek Essaadi University.
The evening went beyond a simple presentation of his novel «ديوان الأهالي». It turned into a lively and engaging discussion about memory, history, and storytelling. The conversation explored how narratives can carry multiple voices and how the city itself can be reimagined through an almost epic lens, shaped by the lived experiences of its people.
The presence of writers, academics, and intellectuals from Tetouan and beyond gave the event a unique depth. Students from different academic levels also played an important role, bringing thoughtful questions and contributing to a rich exchange of ideas.
The discussion was skillfully moderated by researcher Zineb Duali, whose work focuses on memory and the literary history of Tetouan. She guided the conversation toward insightful and nuanced themes that captured the essence of the novel.
The event reminded us that, when shared with the right audience, literature would always have the power to resonate, challenge, and inspire.
