From 15 to 21 May 2026, we were honored to host Dr. Anouar El Younssi (Oxford College of Emory University, USA) for a series of guest lectures centered on his book The Experimental Turn in the Moroccan Novel, 1976–1989.
The lectures opened valuable conversations on Moroccan fiction, literary innovation, narrative experimentation, and the cultural contexts that shaped the Moroccan novel during a decisive historical period.
Brahim Barhoun is a Professor of English Studies in the Department of English Language and Literature at Abdelmalek Essaadi University in Tétouan, Morocco. He holds a PhD in the Literature of English-speaking Countries from the Complutense University of Madrid, and his research interests include postcolonial literature, narrative identity, migration, magical realism, and gender representations, with a focus on African and Arab literary contexts. He is currently the Coordinator of the Interdisciplinary Studies in English Language, Culture & Literature MA Program and Vice Director of the Linguistic, Literary, Cultural & Interdisciplinary Studies Research Lab. In addition, Brahim Barhoun serves as Editor-in-Chief and Publications Director of the Confluence Journal of Multidisciplinary Studies. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles published in national and international journals.
